2014 8U TRAVEL TRYOUTS
We are pleased to announce that, for the first time, Noblesville Youth Baseball will field a full-time 8U travel baseball team in 2014. This team will be selected in the fall of 2013 and participate in winter workouts prior to the 2014 season.Rather than participate in the NYB in-house league, this team will compete against other area travel teams beginning in April 2014. The team will practice together weekly during the spring, and will play 35-40 games during the course of the season (dependent upon success in tournaments). We will also field apart-time 8U travel team, that will be selected and begin practice shortly after the start of the in-house league season in the spring.
Saturday October 5 – 4:00-6:00 pm – fields #5 & #8
Make-up day: Tuesday October 8 – 6:00-7:00 pm – field #5
Parents must fill out a travel application at the time their child is evaluated. A fee of $85 will be due, which will be applied towards travel fees for players that are selected for the team. For players that are not selected, the $85 will be applied towards 2014 NYB in-house league registration.
Evaluations will be conducted by members of the NYB Travel Program. No parent of a player being evaluated will participate in the evaluation process.
Coaches Interviews& Selection:
Prospective coaches will interview during the evaluation sessions. Interviews will be conducted by the NYB Travel Committee and Executive Director. Prospective coaches must fill out the coaching application available on the NYB website, and must consent to a background check. Coaches can pre-schedule their interview by contacting Adam Decker, Executive Director of NYB, prior to evaluations, or indicate their interest at the time their child registers.
Coaches will be selected after the roster is determined.Coaches will be notified on Wednesday October 9. Players will be notified onThursday October 10.
The winter schedule for this program will be determined by the NYB Travel Committee and the team coaches. The most likely scenario is that it will consist of practice sessions twice monthly at Trinity Ballpark in Noblesville from November until March. Once this schedule is in place the overall cost will be determined, but it is assumed it will be in the $500range. This will include uniforms provided by NYB, consisting of two jerseys, two pants, one cap, and one batting helmet.
